Qualities of a good Advocate for Women and Children
Women and children’s rights are the ones that are most violated in the world. They require people who can stand up for them in court. There are some qualities that the advocates should have and here are some of them:
They are well informed. A good advocate knows what she or he is doing. He has knowledge in law and is very familiar with human rights. They should know what they are saying in the court and hence have a big chance of winning the case.
They should be driven. You want an advocate who is very passionate about his work, one whose goal is not the money but winning the case. The advocate should go to great lengths to ensure that justice is served for their client. They should also be enthusiastic and love their work.
They should be caring. The lawyer should care about the client and if their rights have been violated they should empathize with them and do their very best to make sure that the guilty are punished accordingly.
Good communicators. Good advocates should be communicate well with their clients and the judges. They should be persuasive and respectful to the judge. They should also always keep in touch with their clients and inform them of the progress of the case. They should be able to express themselves both verbally and in writing.
They should have connections. In law, the clients might need to consult different people and if their advocate has connections with these people the process will be a roller-coaster. They can therefore get good advice and really important information without much of a struggle.
They should inspire their clients. Women and children might have the thought that they are less important in the society and this should not be it. Great advocates should be able to make them feel that they are just as important as the men and that there is hope for a better future.
They are flexible. The advocate should not be discouraged or disappointed if things don’t go how they wanted them to. They should look at the positive side and appreciate the small success they had. They should just go step by step until they reach their goal.
They are empowering. Women and kids maybe afraid to tell people about the issues that they pass through be it physical or emotional abuse. A good advocate encourages them to raise their voices and tell someone that they go through so that justice can be served.
They are persistent. As it goes for many things in life failure is inevitable. A good advocate should not just give up and pack their bags if they fail to reach their goal. They should keep trying and trying and they will eventually get what they want. They should also be servants of the country. Good advocates should not work for the money only but they should be moved by others lives and do what they can to help them. They should just be happy with seeing a smile on their clients face.
